Emerging country star Robbie Mortimer will join a high-profile music line-up when the Harness Racing New South Wales Carnival of Cups roadshow springs to life in Tamworth on Australia Day.

The 2023 Toyota Star Maker Grand Finalist has been added to the blockbuster fleet of free trackside entertainment on offer.

He will perform alongside Australian country music royalty Adam Brand, all female country rock trio Southbound xo and The Voice Australia finalist Bella Mackenzie.

“What a line-up and what a privilege to be able to share the stage with these stars of Australian country music,” Robbie said.

“It’s such a diverse mix of artists with different approaches so there really is something for everyone. You won’t be disappointed and I’m really excited to be able to bring my high-energy show to the big stage and connect with everyone there.”

Robbie will kick-start the music offering on a night that will see headline entertainment integrated with an elite racing product on track.

The annual Golden Guitar Final will be raced ahead of the new Tamworth City Cup, which is the third installment of HRNSW’s lucrative five-leg Carnival of Cups racing incentive program which launched in Cowra and Young late last year.

Patrons will be provided with on-going music and racing throughout the night, with a full suite of food, beverage and kids entertainment options on offer throughout the precinct.

It is racing and entertainment like Tamworth has never seen before and best of all, it’s free to attend – as long as you’ve registered for a ticket beforehand.

This event will have extra meaning for Robbie, with his family back in town as the official winery partner of the Carnival of Cups series.

“I remember back in November my brother Daniel called me on his way home from the first one in Cowra and he was just raving about it and saying how good the concept was. I got another call from him after Young too,” Robbie said.

“The fact you could see some all-time classic Aussie music acts for free, eat some food, drink some great wine and take the whole family along, he was just so excited to be part of it, so to be invited to perform at one of these events, I can’t wait!”

As well as his on-stage show, Robbie will also take on extra responsibility in Tamworth. He will play a break out solo set before the running of the Golden Guitar Final and perform the national anthem.

“What an honour to be asked to do that, especially on Australia Day. I’m a very proud Australian and it’s something I don’t take lightly,” he said.

“I just can’t wait to be part of the Carnival of Cups concept, to see some other great artists who also love to do what I do and make sure people have a good time listening to my band play some good upbeat rocking country tunes.”
